Shown here is a new (at
least to us) dinosaur find from Morocco - a beautiful Ornithominid claw.
In excellent condition, and large for an Ornithominid claw, the three
views shown below should excite any serious dinophile. Found in the
Lower Cretaceous Tegana Formation, Taouz, Morocco, the claw measures
~7.5 cm in length and is priced quite reasonably at $500.00. The
Ornithominids closely resembled the modern ostrich. |

This is a textbook dinosaur claw. It
is an unidentified dinosaur claw from Morocco. This claw was repaired at
the middle of the claw, and there is a touch of restoration at the
break. But other than that, it is a near-perfect dinosaur claw. The
color is nice and the detail is excellent. This curve is very pronounced
and impressive. And the tip is intact and unrestored. This is a very
collectible and displayable dinosaur claw - one of the best we've ever
seen. |

This very rare Pterosaur claw is the
actual keratin sheath, not the traditional internal core
that is seen on reptile toes and hands. Detail and surface texture is
superb. Many
ridges and valleys are evident, plus a very sharp tip, obviously used
for holding
and grasping. The entire claw is relatively is hollow, which is
extremely unusual. This is a very fine example of a flying reptile claw. |

This is a very nice dinosaur fossil.
It is a beautiful Carcharodontosaurus saharicus tooth from the
Cretaceous of Morocco. Carcharodontosaurus was a ferocious, meat-eating
dinosaur. The serrations along the cutting edges of the tooth are easily
seen, and the tip of the tooth is nicely intact. The corrugated enamel
of the tooth is well preserved and has gorgeous reddish-blond
coloration. This is a very collectible example of a tooth from this
carniverous dinosaur. |

is a rare tooth from the meat-eating dinosaur, Carcharodontosaurus
saharicus. This beautiful specimen was found still embedded in rock,
then expertly excavated to expose this fabulous tooth.
Carcharodontosaurus teeth still encased in rock are as rare as one in
hundreds - almost all are found free of matrix. This beautiful tooth has
extremely sharp serrations and an excellent tip. The blond-colored
enamel of this tooth is beautifully preserved and quite striking. This
is simply a beautiful carniverous dinosaur tooth that just happens to
still be encased in its natural block of matrix..

is a very impressive dinosaur fossil. It is a killer Carcharodontosaurus
saharicus jaw with a large tooth displayed. The jaw is a lower left
mandible from near the middle of the jawbone. The bone is of excellent
quality and has beautiful natural color. The inside of the jaw shows the
large sockets extremely well. The 2.3 inch tooth is loose and of "A-"
grade, and is included with the jaw for optimal display and higher
collectibility. This is one of the showiest fossils from the dinosaur,
Carcharodontosaurus, that we have offered.

This
amazing tooth specimen was excavated from the phosphate mine region in
Khouribga, Morocco. Globidens teeth are rare but this is the first time
we have ever offered one with its complete undamaged root still
attached. A real gem of a specimen, this is an absolute must for
fanciers of mosasaurs. The enamel is completely intact and crown is
undamaged and in perfect preservation. A spectacular AAA quality rarity
of a species seldom available in ANY condition.
www.paleodirect.com

$195.00 |
With it's short and massive
head outfitted with thick jaws lined with these blunt, bulbous teeth,
Globidens could crush hard-shelled mollusks like ammonites, clams,
snails and possibly the shells of tortoises. The side-to-side
structural strength needed from tearing and holding prey in the teeth of
other mosasaur species is not necessary for Globidens. The Globidens
mosasaur did not feed on large, thrashing prey like fish, pterosaurs,
sharks and even other mosasaurs. The massive and deep roots typical in
the teeth of other mosasaur species were not necessary in the teeth of a
Globidens as all the pressure was straight down onto the tooth in the
crushing operation of feeding. Because of this use and the nature of
what was eaten, the base of Globidens teeth are constricted, possess a
small root and are covered in a wrinkled enamel to prevent slippage as
the shell of its prey is crushed. Also lacking in the Globidens are
functional pterygoid teeth, teeth in the back of the throat to hold and
prevent partially swallowed prey from escaping, that are also a
characteristic of other mosasaur varieties. |

This
bizarre fossil tooth came from a large mosasaur but due to its
fascinating pathological deformity, the exact species is tough to
attribute. It possibly comes from a Mosasaurus beaugii but it is
stunted as well as twisted, all caused when it was formed in the jaw of
the creature. While deformed Otodus shark teeth are sometimes found in
the Khouribga phosphates, these are from a different layer, deposit and
time period.
www.paleodirect.com
1.75 inches
$145.00 |
Mosasaur teeth are rarely
found with any deformity and this is the only specimen we have offered
despite our efforts to always scout out the strange and unusual. The
pathology is severe and the tooth is even more dramatic when viewed in
person. It sustained damage when found but the fractures were clean
breaks and no part of the tooth was missing. In any other circumstance,
to break a mosasaur tooth when digging would have resulted in just
throwing the tooth away but this is such an extreme rarity to find one
with this type of deformity when the creature was alive that it was
worth saving at any cost. Fortunately, it is a very high grade specimen
otherwise, and the enamel and tip are well-displayed and complete. For
collectors of the highly unusual, this would make an excellent and rare
compliment to a fossil tooth collection from the Cretaceous. The only
one we have or ever collected. |
